Angel Wing Heart

I'm addicted to..

This is something that I shouldn't be proud of. So, I don't feel comfortable to say it out loud or to anyone but I'm going to have to do it. I'm addicted to CS:GO.

I think by now it's quite obvious with the amount of posts I have on it. It started only as a normal video game until I dove deep into Competitive. Playing Competitive always make my blood run super fast and all I want to do is to keep on winning. It's even better when you queue with your friends and it automatically turns to a fun game.

After that, I began to purchase skins for all of my guns ranging from pistols, smgs, rifles etc. (Skins are not cheap!) In all honesty, having skins for your guns does not make the guns better. It's purely cosmetic. I know it's a waste of money but mistakes have been made. Moving on, the next big thing are the knives. A majority of players will spend thousands on keys and cases in hopes of getting a rare knife. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. My problem now is that I enjoy browsing the market and look at the different types of knives. *Not trying to brag* I own a Gut Knife Fade (Factory New) myself but thing is I'm already bored of it. I had it for about a month though, unfortunately.

Guess what? I'm planning on getting a new knife. HAHAHA

RIP.

Anime Hype: Ore Monogatari!! (My Love Story)

Synopsis:

Gouda Takeo is a freshman in high school. (Both estimates) Weight: 120kg, Height: 2 meters. He spends his days peacefully with his super-popular-with-girls, yet insensitive childhood friend, Sunakawa. One morning, on the train to school, Takeo saves a girl, Yamato, from being molested by a pervert. Could this be the beginning of spring for Takeo?

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Shoujo.
Episodes: 24.
Rating: PG-13 - Teens 13 or older.

I can't say much about this anime because I've only seen 10 episodes of it, but from what I could gather is that it's a very funny series. All the characters are lovable, story line is very light so it's easy to watch and understand, and the opening song is catchy! Not to mention that, Ore Monogatari is going to have a live action movie.

CS:GO Knives.

How to get a knife?

Knives are special exceedingly rare items and can only be obtained by opening cases.

These cases drop while you are playing the game, or you can buy them on the Steam-Market place.

Any case can contain a knife and it is not proved that any of these cases has a higher chance to drop one than the others.

Following cases were developed in various different operations. While the cases of the active operation drop actively, some of them can only be purchased on the steam market because they were dropable in an earlier stage of the game.

Weapon Case 1 & 2 & 3

eSports Case - eSports Winter Case - eSports Summer Case

Operation Bravo Case & Operation Phoenix Case

Winter Offensive Case

While these cases were able to drop any knife (Gut, Flip, Bayonet, M9 Bayonet, Karambit) the following 2 had a unique tweak to them.

Huntsman Case

The Huntsman case brought in the first knife update to CS:GO - it is the only case to achieve a Huntsman knife from.

Operation Breakout Case

Another case that introduced a new knife to the game: Butterfly Knife

It can also only be dropped by this special case.

Types of Knives.

At the moment CS:GO offers 7 different types of knives which can have one of the 5 available exteriors.

1. Gut Knife.

The most notable feature of a gut knife is the gut hook on the spine of the blade. Originally popularized as an aid for field dressing game, the gut hook is also effective at cutting through fibrous materials like rope, webbing, or safety belts with ease.

2. Flip Knife.

Flip knives sport a Persian-style back-swept blade with an acute point. While the point itself may be fragile, the overall design of the flip knife's design is surprisingly durable.

3. Bayonet.

Relatively unchanged in its design since World War II, the bayonet still retains a place in modern military strategy. Bayonet charges have continued to be effective as recently as the second Gulf War and the war in Afghanistan.

4. M9 Bayonet.

This is the M-9 bayonet. Originally intended to be mounted on a rifle, it is also well suited to close-quarters combat.

5. Karambit. (My dream knife)

With its curved blade mimicking a tiger's claw, the karambit was developed as part of the southeast Asian martial discipline of silat. The knife is typically used with a reverse grip, with the finger ring on the index finger.

6. Huntsman.

A knife designed for modern tactical uses, the blade is well suited for a range of both combat and utilitarian needs. The unique Tanto point allows for maximum penetration through even the toughest of surfaces.

7. Butterfly.

This is a custom-designed balisong, commonly known as a butterfly knife. The defining characteristic of this weapon is the fan-like opening of a freely pivoting blade, allowing rapid deployment or concealment. As a result, butterfly knives are outlawed in many countries.

Gender Equality.

**This is my own personal opinion. I don't mean to offend anyone.**

Firstly, people often misunderstood the meaning of sex and gender. There are major differences between these two concepts. Sex is based on the characteristics of males and females while gender is a social construct or a society’s assumption about the way a man or woman should look or behave. Now that is clear, you must be wondering what is gender equality? Well, gender equality is the measureable equal representation of women and men. Gender equality does not imply that women and men are the same but that they have equal value and should be given equal treatment.

Besides that, the United Nations (UN) also pointed out that empowering woman is also an indispensable tool for advancing development and reducing poverty. Gender equality will not only empower woman to overcome poverty and live full and productive lives but it will improve the lives of children, families and countries as well. We should enhance women’s equal rights in a few distinct areas mainly the household, workplace and the political environment.

Here are a few popular cases of gender inequality. In Saudi Arabia, women are not allowed to drive, ride bicycles and men are not allowed to drive women they are not closely related to. Furthermore, in many areas of Afghanistan, girls are often taken out of school as soon as they hit puberty. Why? Because of the lack of female teachers who are fundamental in a country where girls cannot be taught by male teachers after hitting puberty.

Traditional gender roles always privilege men at the expense of women. Society deprives women of right, power and resources. Despite the issues of gender inequality to women, men and transgender individuals also are victims that suffer the negative consequences. For example, a girl may be forced to stop schooling because the family does not believe that women needs education. A man may engage in unsafe sex because he believes that real men do not use condoms and a transgender woman may not seek needed health care out of fear of discrimination and stigma. No society has assigned equal power to both men and women.

In Malaysia, we are fortunate that both genders are treated rather equally in many instances. Everyone has the right to education and to work in any field of their choice.  There is no law forbidding men or women from continuing their education and progressing in their career. In isolated cases, as a student, I think we are capable of making a change in this matter. We should stop comparing and contrasting the different gender stereotypes that have kept men and women from feeling equal. We should not pressure men to be aggressive and women to be submissive. I should also highlight that there are a few countries that have supported gender equality. For example, in Africa women have gained more position in parliaments and India has accepted legal obligations to eliminate discrimination against women and outlawed sexual harassment in workplace.

In a nutshell, accepting and believing in gender equality is beneficial for all sex. Therefore, I would like to see changes being made in the coming years. Last but not least, here is a quote from a very well-known actress named Emma Watson in her speech for the HeForShe Campaign, “I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop and it is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals.”

Studio Ghilbi!

Headquartered in Kogane, Tokyo, Studio Ghibli is easily the most famous Japanese animation and film studio in the world. Founded in 1985, the company’s logo features the fan-favorite Totoro from Hayao Miyazaki’s “My Neighbor Totoro.” Many many times has Studio Ghibli been called “the Disney of Japan” and Hayao Miyazaki “the Walt Disney of Japan.” I certainly can’t argue with that – Miyazaki and Ghibli are both pretty magical.

Over the years Studio Ghibli has won many awards for their whimsical creations and in 2002, Spirited Away won a Golden Bear and an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. To this day it remains the only film made outside of the English-speaking world to have done so. Do you know the secret that makes all of Ghibli so magical? No? Read on to find out.

Ghibli and Friends.

So where does the name Ghibli come from anyway? Well, Ghibli is based on the Arabic name for the sirocco (Mediterranean wind). During World War II the Italians used the sirocco for their Saharan scouting planes. Although pronounced with a hard g in both Arabic and Italian, the Japanese pronunciation of the word is with a soft g (ji-bu-ri).

The reason the studio chose to go with this name was because they wanted to “blow a new wind through the Japanese anime industry” changing things up and offering a breath of fresh air – pretty ambitious to say the least. But the studio has certainly lived up to its namesake. Check out this quick list showcasing some of the studio’s top highlights.

  • The first real box-office success in Studio Ghibli’s history (just over $18 million) was Kiki’s Delivery Service in 1989, four years after the studio’s creation.
  • The highest-grossing film of 1992 in Japan was Studio Ghibli’s very own Porco Rosso (¥2.8 billion in distribution income).
  • The first ever Studio Ghibli film to use computer graphics was Pom Poko in 1992, starring a group of tanuki.
  • The first Miyazaki film featuring computer graphics, and the first Studio Ghibli film featuring digital coloring was Princess Mononoke in 1997. Roger Ebert placed the movie sixth on his top ten movies of 1999 (after it had been released in the US) and it was also the highest grossing movie in Japan (overtaking E.T.) with $134 million in box office revenue until the achievement was claimed by Titanic several months later (but not for long!)
  • The first Studio Ghibli film made entirely with digital processing was My Neighbors the Yamadas in 1999.
  • Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away was the first film to gross $200 million worldwide before opening in North America (eventually making about $275 million in total), and it was the only anime film ever to win an Academy award for Best Animated Feature, and it took over Titanic ($135 million) at the Japanese box office, becoming the top grossing film ever in Japanese cinema.

Sissy Goodwin: Toughest Man.

I came across this interesting article today. It's about a cross dresser.

Sissy Goodwin is out shopping. He's on the hunt for an industrial-sized wrench for a home handyman project along with two special somethings: colored hair bows and a pretty new dress — preferably red, size 12.

Goodwin is a cross-dresser in the Cowboy State, a place known for its big-buckled outdoor ethic and intolerance of alternative lifestyles. It is the state remembered for the death of college student Matthew Shepard, who was tortured and killed in 1998 because he was gay.

For most of his life Goodwin has lived a compulsion — one that at times has made him cry and embarrassed his family. But he found out long ago that he can't stop himself.

Cross-dressing is widely considered aberrant behavior even in the most liberal big cities, but out here in the nation's least-populated state, the practice is almost unthinkable. For decades, Goodwin has endured a profoundly hostile environment. He has stood up to bigotry and has begun to make a difference.

Goodwin isn't gay; he's been married for 45 years and has two adult children. As a young man, he was a rodeo cowboy who rode bulls bareback, a free spirit who never shied away from a fistfight. The former aircraft mechanic loves to drink beer, play golf, throw steaks on the grill.

What sets him apart, he says, is what he calls gender independence: He just likes to do most things in a dress.

My review:

The Walking Dead was one of the first point & click game that I've played. I'm glad that I was able to play this game and experience the story myself.

Very much unlike other adventure games, there is hardly any puzzle solving to be found in The Walking Dead; it focuses mainly on the story and character development and relationships. The story is heavily effected by dialogue choices and actions taken during quick time events - these choices will often lead to game altering changes such as a character being killed off etc. All of the choices and events from one episode are carried over onto the next. I have also leaned since completing the game; that Telltale actually tracked the choices made too, and helped them to influence their writing in later episodes in the story.

You play the game mainly in a third person perspective and the camera changes depending on the scenery and objects around the player. You are constantly in communication with the rest of your group of survivors; you will build friendships, enemies and you will bond with most of the characters in someway. You will be emotionally attached to them, especially the young child, Clementine. While most of the game is also based around the dialogue, there are a number of quick time events throughout the series, normally I am not a huge fan of QTEs, but these are required in the story in order to get their point across and to at least keep you conscious of your surroundings when playing.

Each of the chapters level design are so well thought out; there are tons of objects to interact with, pick up and use with you in future situations. If it is of any interest; then you will be able to do something with it. The art style really gets across how doomed the civilized world is in the ruined remains of cities and towns.

Overall, I would rate this 9/10. I fell in love with each of the characters and the gaming experience felt so real. Having to decided which character dies when is heart breaking. Just like real life, everyone will have to die eventually (even if you don't want them to). So, make the right choices!!
